The Annual Low Vision Awareness CME and Workshop was organized by SRCC Children’s Hospital in association with the SRCC CENTRE on April 12th, 2025. The day featured a variety of engaging scientific sessions and hands-on workshops covering low vision devices, computer-based aids, vision questionnaires, and the Unique Disability ID card registration process. Dr Shiwangee Purandare, Director, Rehab Dept. and Dr Himika Gupta, Ocular Oncologist and Oculoplasty Surgeon shared insights into multidisciplinary rehabilitation and the clinical aspects of low vision, while lively debates on squint management and educational choices for visually impaired children encouraged thought-provoking discussions.
Optometry experts delivered sessions on functional vision assessment and visual processing, with Optometrist Vidula Patil addressing near vision challenges in cortical visual impairment. The afternoon included impactful case presentations and was graced by dignitaries who emphasized collaboration in low vision rehabilitation. The workshop concluded with a hands-on demo session led by specialists, allowing participants to gain practical skills in assessment and management of low vision. The event closed with a prize distribution ceremony and positive feedback from attendees, who appreciated the blend of theory and practice that made the workshop highly beneficial for clinicians in the field.
