A case study on the SRCC Children’s Hospital & SRCC Centre for Child Development– “Saving Lives, One Child at a Time”, carried out by the Centre for Asian Philanthropy India (CAPI), a non-profit organization committed to enhance the quantity & quality of philanthropic giving and other forms of social investment in India was launched on July 15, 2022 at SRCC auditorium. The goal of this case study was to craft a narrative to increase the awareness of the benefits of philanthropy and showcase the story and achievements of the SRCC Centre for Child Development & SRCC Children’s Hospital as a model for specialized, holistic and affordable paediatric care in India. This case study aims at providing an insight into setting up a pediatric and maternity charitable hospital, funded fully or partially by donors and to provide essential guidance for setting a vision, practical guidance on execution, and strategies for setting up such an institution.
The launch event was co-hosted by SRCC. Mr. S Ramadorai, President & Trustee, SRCC apprised the house on the journey of SRCC and the efforts made by the pioneers to accomplish our vision & mission that “Health, Hope and Happiness is each child’s right” and “No child should go without treatment for want of money”. A documentary film screening wherein a visual journey of a few children whose lives were touched by the SRCC Centre for Child Development and SRCC Children’s Hospital was showcased.
An expert panel discussion on “Critical Needs and Challenges in Maternal and Child Healthcare” was followed. Dr. Soonu Udani, Medical Director, SRCC Children’s Hospital; Dr. Krishna Kumar, Clinical Head, Pediatric Cardiology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences; Dr. Aman Singh, Senior Health Advisor, Tata Trusts & Ms. Vanessa D’ Souza, CEO, SNEHA were the panelist. The discussion was moderated by Mrs. Archana Chandra, CEO, Jai Vakeel Foundation and Trustee, SRCC. The event concluded with remarks by Mr. Amit Chandra, MD, Bain Capital Private Equity on the role of philanthropy in maternity and pediatric care.
