Date: November 14, 2019
Venue: SRCC Centre for Child Development & SRCC Children’s Hospital
Children’s Day, 14 November is a special day for all children and keeping that spirit, it was enthusiastically celebrated by the children, parents and staff of SRCC’s Centre for Child Development Centre & SRCC Children’s Hospital.
The children came in, to see the Centre decorated with balloons and game tables set up all across the ground floor space. There were game stalls, tattoo artists, balloon artists, hair braiding and many other activities. There were interactive stalls where the children coloured and took home their own table mats.
The staff of CASE and the Rehabilitation Departments had planed fun things for the children. There was block printing on paper bags, painting pottery and party games like Passing the Parcel and Four Corners. The children with the help of parents and staff had cooked some delicious food for everyone to enjoy!! And then came the highlight of their day, a Magic Show!! The children couldn’t contain their surprise, cheers and laughter as doves appeared and disappeared only to appear again! Coins dropped from unexpected places, scarves emerged from a balloon and the magician ate fire!! The magic and sparkle will stay with all of us for a long time or at least till the next 14th of November. A special shout out and a big thank you to The Drama Queen for making our day special. The team was magnificent!
14th November holds a special place in our hearts. Ten years ago we moved to this new building to offer various Rehabiliation facilities to the differently abled children and their families under one roof, thus making their lives easier. Ten years later we celebrated by adding one more facility, a state-of-the-art Aquatic Therapy Unit, supported by Kotak Karma. The therapeutic pool will allow children with cerebral palsy, spasticity, sensory issues, arthritis, autism and the like to do a set of exercises in the water with the help of certified Aquatherapists. The Unit was inaugurated by Mr. Praveen Pardesi, Hon’ble Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai. This was followed by a short program at the Hospital.
Mr. Ramadorai, President of SRCC, welcomed Mr. Pardesi. Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder of Narayana Health addressed the guests, speaking about the Government’s new National Health Protection Scheme: Ayushman Bharat, which will cover over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families providing coverage upto 5 lakh rupees per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.
The afternoon ended with a rousing performance by the Six Pack Band 2.0. The band is a group of 6 extremely talented singers in their teens all with varying challenges but with incredible musical skills. They performed a medley of songs & gave individual performances.
We look forward to the next decade, hoping to go from strength to strength and doing the best we can by the families who have placed their faith in us.
